Food San Francisco

Molinari’s Italian Deli

North beach is home to little Italy. This place makes a great italian sandwich. Only two tables outside on Columbus Ave. So if you don’t want to be bumped into by tourist while you eat your sandwich, head over a few blocks to Washington Square Park.

Pork Store

Two locations. One in the Upper Haight, and one in the heart of the Mission. This place is delicious. It’s a bit greasy for those who can’t get down with a place that cooks their bacon on the same grill next to their pancakes. But you won’t be sorry when you try the eggs in a tasty nest.

Dinosaur (Vietnamese Sandwich’s – in the mission)

Spicy tuna’s where it’s at. But if you’re a vegetarian, you’ll like their crispy tofu as well.

El Farolito

At 24th and Mission, this place is considered one of the best original Mission burrito’s.

Brenda’s French Soul Food

This place has some pretty rockin’ soul food. Can you say beignet? Their coffee(especially their mocha’s) are pretty good too.

The Little Chihuahua

Mexican taqueria on Divisadero, Noe Valley and in the Mission that prides itself on quality ingredients and their garlic shrimp burrito is tasty.

Sam’s Burger

Fast greasy burger. I love em. They are so good. Throw some sriracha and some ranch on it with some fries. Anthony Bourdain featured them on one of his shows. Right at the end of China Town.

Medium Priced:

Burma Superstar

This place gets crowded quick! Out in the Richmond district of San Francisco, you’ll probably want to get there early to find parking and get a table when they open. No reservations, but the food is something incredible. Awesome salads, curry dishes, and appetizers.

Capo’s Chicago Pizza and Fine Italian Dinner

Good Chicago deep dish in San Francisco’s North Beach. Their sister restaurant Tony’s Pizza is just around the corner and equally delicious, but much longer waits, so we tend to prefer Capo’s. Tony’s also has a slice house next door.

Mission Beach Cafe

The Truffle Benedict is no joke. Seriously tasty breakfast. We approve.

Bar Crudo

This is probably the best chowder we’ve had. Mainly fish menu with great raw fish appetizers. Usually one red meat item that’s equally good.

Grubstake

When you sit at the counter in The Grubstake, you are sitting in a tiny bit of Bay Area history! The rail car that houses half of The Grubstake originally served the Key Line that provided transportation between Berkeley and Oakland and San Francisco. They serve great patty melts and espresso Milkshakes.

Aziza

Probably the best Moroccan restaurant in the city. Everything from the warm olives to the lamb is incredible.

Ragazza

Another cozy Italian restaurant in our neighborhood that has delicious arancini, salads, and pizza. The steak was good the other night too.

Sol Food

Not in San Francisco, but worth the drive north over the Golden Gate. An honorable mention for Sol Food in Mill Valley and San Rafael. The food here is some our favorite. Puerto Rican cuisine, try the bistec sandwich and the ponche beverage.

Pricey Food:

Jardiniere

French California Cuisine in a beautiful brick building by the Opera House. The bar is elegant and the second floor overlooks the downstairs.

Nopa

One of our favorite spots in our neighborhood, they are not easy to get in. You can take your chances with a spot at the community table or the bar, but call and make reservations 30 days in advance for a reservation.

Slanted Door

Vietnamese Family style in ferry building.

Wayfare Tavern

Haven’t been, but we’re told it’s good.

Cafe Tiramisu

Set on a quaint little alley, Belden Place in downtown San Francisco, this Italian restaurant has been on “check please” and warmed our tastebuds a few times now as we keep wanting to go back.

Yank Sing

We have only been to the Rincon Center location, but the food is really good. The wait can be bad on the weekends and can even get a bit crowded during the week at lunch time. They close at 3pm, so plan on having brunch there, and call to try to make a reservation.

Zuni Cafe

Haven’t been unfortunately, but the rumor has it, that this is the best roasted chicken around. Something we will hopefully have experienced by the time we’re married.
